Good people need leaders if they’re going to fight for a cause. We need to work toward a goal.

To be a good leader we must be a team player.

  • A team player lays down anything that will hinder them from helping the team, for example, pride, comfort , success and selfishness.

To be an effective leader we must first and foremost invest in ourselves so we can in turn invest in the people on our team. This is how we are effective leaders!

“I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it’s like to be a leader, in on Christ's sufferings as well as the coming glory. Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:1-3‬ ‭(MSG)‬‬

Ever heard the phrase lead-by-example? This is probably the key point for a successful team.

Three Keys for a Successful Team

  1. Direction

  • First, Know where you want to go

    • There are two types of directions such as short and long term directions.

    • As leaders we need to have a clear direction to reach our goal so that we as a team can achieve that goal.

When they went, they went toward any of their four directions; they did not turn aside when they went, but followed in the direction the head was facing. They did not turn aside when they went.

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭10:11‬ ‭(NKJV)‬‬

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭(ASV‬‬)

  1. People

  • Second, Know who you need

    • It is easier to find people for and place people in the right areas of your team once you’ve determined the direction you are heading in with your project/goal.

  1. Systems/Structure

  • Third, Know how to get where you’re going

    • This key is very important: people won’t function at their best if the environment is a dysfunctional mess.

    • For a team to function properly we have to have a system/structure in place and for our team to go step by step to reach the next level.

    • God will set things right.

    • 1 Samuel 2:6-10 (MSG)

If you don't have a strategy or system in place for your team it will be chaotic and it will not be a successful team.

Having the right system in place with the right people will go a long way and ultimately your team will be more effective!
